This study investigates the effects of anchor activities on the interest and academic achievement of Senior Secondary Two (SS2) students studying Chemical Kinetics in Shendam, Plateau State, Nigeria. Forty students from two co-educational secondary schools in the Shendam Education Zone participated. A quasi-experimental design, guided by six research questions and four hypotheses, was employed. The experimental group engaged in lessons with anchor activities, while the control group was taught using traditional methods. The Chemistry Achievement Test (CAT) and the Chemical Interest Inventory (CII) were used as measurement tools. Over a period of four weeks, tailored lesson plans were implemented. The results revealed higher academic achievement among students exposed to anchor activities, suggesting that such activities could enhance learning outcomes in secondary school chemistry.
